Boys Don't Make Passes...

Update on the whole eye thing: getting better, still pretty ugly. And, I had no idea how expensive prescription sunglasses are. Since it looks like it is entirely possible that I will be wearing glasses forever, I have been trying to think of ladies in pop culture who are always in glasses. I could come up with only a few:

Daria Morgendorffer, Lisa Loeb and Velma of Scooby Doo

Lisa is allergic to contact lenses. And also she's the only real person. Can anyone think of others???

Anyhoo, on to my Twilight Series review:

Oh man, don't you hate when you get to the last installment of a series and it disappoints? My Twilight vampire book series is now complete (and in time for the in-law's visit-yay!), but jeez it ended so lame! Spoilers ahead:

Why create such a strong, stubborn, powerful female character (Bella, the central character) only to have her be focused completely on a love interest and not anything else for four books. FOUR BOOKS. I understand that this is a series for teens and she's in high school at the beginning, but hello? Growth anyone? Maturity? It started to turn into a romance novel-happy freaking ending included. Finally, when Bella gets to marry Edward (the vampire) and begin a new life as a vampire, with all the possibilities of her as banshee warrior-what I have been waiting for for thousands of pages-she gets pregnant with some half-vampire, half-human baby. Seriously. Seriously? And so when Bella is finally no longer the damsel in distress she becomes afraid for her baby and saves her through a totally not cool, non-confrontational kind of magical power: mental shield. Nobody dies, nobody is sacrificed, everybody wins. Boo. This is one of those times when the fan fiction might actually be better.
